Frogs and Water Lilies

Jetty View

I hope you all had a great Christmas and and New Year. And for those who have just returned from their summer holiday, I hope you have had a great start to work!

Frans and I have had some lovely guests from several countries over these last two months. The UK is always well represented and we even welcomed a few guests all the way from Brazil.

I may add that New Zealand is a great country for tourism and it is wonderful to meet such a vast array of different people with different travel plans. This is also the time where New Zealanders themselves are traveling over the holidays and we had a great number of them staying at our place.

Lilies

On the garden front we are harvesting our first tomatoes and cucumbers from the tunnel house. These always prove to be nice and juicy. The peppers will soon be following.

I noticed that the water lilies are doing exceptionally well this year. We had quite a bit of spring rain so there is a substantial amount of water in the pond.

The frogs love sitting on the large leaves and every time you step out onto the jetty, you can hear them scrambling to get into the water.

Three years ago we planted around five water lily plants in the water and they have set and grown well. We have a selection of different coloured flowers and at night they close up again nicely for the next day.
