Waikanae Garden Tour

Bus arrives

We have had a busy November month. The summer season has seen lots of guests and we were even lucky enough to receive a wonderful group of visitors from Waikanae for a garden tour and light lunch.

While the garden and the food preparation was all finalised and ready to go, the only thing beyond our control was of course the weather. So on the day at around 10am we decided to have the lunch indoors instead of spreading the tables out on the deck outside.

This appeared to be the right move because when the bus arrived at around 11:30am, it was dry but a strong southwesterly wind was blowing.

We split the group into two and Frans took half while I took the other half around for the garden tour. It’s amazing how a garden looks when it’s getting a good deal of rainwater on a regular basis. The lawn was still a lovely bright green and the flowers were in full bloom.

After an enjoyable tour of the garden, it was nice to head in and have lunch indoors. We adjusted the kitchen, living room and conservatory so that all the tables and chairs could fit.

We set it up in such a way that people could go to the buffet table to have their choice and finish off with tea or coffee and a chocolate slice. Luckily there were enough windows to still enjoy the garden views from inside.

At around 2:30pm it was time for the group to be on their way and we were happy they had enjoyed their stay at Thyme Out.
